During this session, Bryan, Andy and Scotty will shine light on the various procurement methods used to engage and contract with Design and Construction professionals. From the contractor and owner’s point of view, they will highlight the benefits and challenges of each method (Negotiated, Design/Build, Design-Bid-Build) and discuss the overall relational experience for these methods.

    Andy Aldridge
    Executive Vice President - Pre-Construction at EDIFICE, LLC

    Andy Aldridge has lived in Charlotte over the last 30 years. He serves as Executive Vice President for Edifice. He leads their pre-construction efforts to plan and budget construction projects ranging from $100 thousand to over $100 million. He has served on the boards at the Associated Builders and Contractors, various homeowners associations, and Habitat for Humanity. He attends Forest Hill Church and enjoys Clemson football, walking their dog Hudson, vacationing in the Caribbean, backpacking along the Appalachian Trail, and sharing meals with family and new grandson Rhodes.

    After earning a degree in Civil Engineering from NC State in 1989, Bryan started his career in hospital and healthcare construction before joining Edifice in 1996 for the opportunity to marry his two passions: working in construction and serving the local church. Bryan has led Edifice’s Faith-Based Construction group, which has completed over 150 projects across the Carolinas, helping churches maximize resources with quality facilities that enhance and expand their ministries.

    Scotty S. Smith
    Principal & Director of Faith-Based Design at ADW Architects

    Growing up with a grandfather skilled in carpentry and an uncle in construction, Scotty discovered early on a passion for architecture. Earning a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech in 1997, Scotty has had the opportunity to work on a range of project types including movie theatres, multi-family housing, local government, public safety, and the most fulfilling – faith architecture. As Director of Faith-Based Design for ADW Architects, which has completed more than 500 church projects since its founding in 1977, he leads an experienced team working with a diverse range of churches primarily in both Carolinas. Scotty always enjoys time with his wife of 23 years and their five children and enjoys serving at Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
